Scraggane Pier Repairs, Co Kerry
Client: Kerry County Council
Project Overview
Dive and Marine Contractors acted as the specialist main contractor for the Scraggane Pier Repairs Contract. The contract required a strategic approach to be taken in the repair of the outer face of the pier were undermining of the structure had occurred.
Scraggane Pier lies on the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry along the west coast of Ireland. It is a busy fishing harbour, tourist attraction with boat trips to the Maheree Islands daily and operates a busy scuba diving center. Due to the sensitivity of the location of the works, Dive and Marine Contractors had to develop a well-tested and proven method to complete the repair works while causing zero impact or disturbance to the public, pier users and the environment.
Project Outcome
Dive and Marine Contractors designed, supplied and installed a solid DOKA shutter which was fixed to the head of the pier and secured to the seabed by our team of divers. A fiber-mix concrete was then pumped into the location of the void behind the shutter and left to cure. Our dive team monitored the shutter for the duration of the pour. Upon completion, a full survey of the repair was conducted for the client.
